Term-A-Rid 613® History
In the early 1990’s, Yaakov Brody, a pesticide expert in Maryland, began developing a formula for Term-A-Rid 613®. Mr. Brody applied the formulation to color enhanced wood mulch and termite detection and killing wood stakes. Once perfected, Mr. Brody obtained patents and United States Environmental Protection Agency registrations for both products.

When applied to wood, Term-A-Rid 613® kills termite populations by killing the protozoa which live in the digestive system of every termite. These protozoa are the only means of termite digestion, allowing the termite to break down cellulose to absorb nutrients from the wood the termite consumes. The more Term-A-Rid 613® the termite eats, the more it starves. Since worker termites bring the food for other members of the population, those being fed by the worker termites can also be affected. The termite colony is reduced as other termites feed on the wood and/or the dead termites.

Termarid, LLC
In recent years, the demand for decorative mulch has grown dramatically. Despite its aesthetic appeal, however, wood mulch could be a feeding ground for termites. Although many products are available for controlling termites, none combine the benefits of mulch and a termiticide…until now. In response to this demand, Termarid, LLC, was organized in 2001 to promote and distribute the Term-A-Rid 613® termite-controlling, color enhanced premium mulch. This landscape product is patented and approved by the EPA for direct sales of bagged mulch to the public. Our nationwide network of distributors (LINK) services a wide variety of retailers from local lawn and garden shops to the national home centers and mass merchandisers.

Term-A-Rid 613® termite controlling, color enhanced premium mulch may be used around plants, however, not directly on the root systems of sensitive plants or any body of water. The use of currently registered pesticide products containing boric acid and its sodium salts, such as Term-A-Rid 613®, in accordance with approved labeling has not been shown to pose unreasonable risks or adverse effects to humans or the environment.
